A Celebration of Community, Creativity & Autumn Magic!

Join us for one of the most anticipated seasonal events! The Autumn Fair at Castlemaine Steiner School is a joyful day for families, friends, and the wider community to come together in celebration of harvest, nature, and the warm spirit of our school.

What to Expect

Step into a world of wonder with:

  • Delicious, wholesome food including pizza, baked treats, coffee cart
  • Bumper Silent Auction with amazing items from our local community businesses and talented artists
  • Live Music & Entertainment
  • Children’s Activities such as fish n dip (think lucky dip with a fishing rod!) treasure hunts, sideshow alley games, nature-based activities and more!
  • Handmade Crafts & artisan stalls including hand made items by our school community
  • Plant & Produce Stalls

Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a curious first-timer, the Autumn Fair is a chance to experience the heart and soul of our school community. The Autumn Fair is a celebration of our wonderful community and a great chance for friends, families and locals to see our wonderful school and its programs.  Sustainability, creativity, community connection, and reverence for the natural world.

Bring cash to exchange for Fair currency. Fair Currency is needed to be purchased at the Welcome Stand and come in necklaces cost $20, or $50 each – one token is worth $1, and can be used on all stalls including side-show alley, fish ‘n’ dip, food stalls and Busk for a cause. We have very limited EFTPOS facilities on site, so cash to buy tokens is the preference – there is an amazing silent auction, plenty of delicious food and drink and some lovely stalls run by local Makers.

Eco Club Stall
11-2pm.
Bin It Right! Features two council standard bins and a collection of common rubbish, the players will be told to place/throw the correct rubbish in to the corresponding bin.
Bird is the Word! It’s an interactive bird awareness game, that highlights some of our local bird species. Prizes drawn at 2pm
Trash to Treasure Sculpture Comp! make something from items destined for landfill/the bin. The sculptures will be made in their own time with their own materials that can no longer be of use or must be thrown away. The award will be judged on most artistic with 4 different age categories. Judged at 12pm
River Detective – waterbugs. Explore waterbugs in their underwater world and have a go at trying to identify them.
Children’s Garden – smaller children’s activity space
Aimed at 0-7 year olds, our children’s garden is a relaxed space for smaller children and their carers!
With a small entry fee, small children will be entertained with Bubble blowing, crystal treasure hunting in the sandpit, puppet shows, free tea for carers, plus slinky apples and cakes for purchase.
This area is enclosed, so small children can explore while parents and carers can relax!
Sideshow Alley
Roll up Roll up and play some sideshow alley games!
– try your luck at the “Fish n Dip” lucky dip game with a twist! Everyone gets a lucky dip prize
– test your strength at the Strong Arm
– Show off your skills at Quoits
– Circus activities
– Guess the number games and more!
Silent Auction
We have an amazing silent action with fantastic items from our local businesses including:
– Firebean Coffee
– Gift Vouchers from amazing businesses like Wonderpants, The Bridge Castlemaine, Five Flags Merchants, Long Paddock Cheese, Warm, Taste of the Orient, Over the Moon
– Silver jewellery by Zoe Crowder
– Woolykins Slippers
– Pure Wool Wrap hand knitted by Castlemaine Steiner School Principal, Nerrida Johnson

– Children’s Books from Stonemans

Getting here


Our school is approximately 8 mins from the township of Castlemaine on the Pyrenees Highway, approximately 6 kilometres. Students enrolled at CSSK come from a range of towns across the Central Goldfields area such as Maryborough, Bendigo, Kyneton, Newstead, Daylesford and all parts of Castlemaine such as Barkers Creek & Chewton etc.

By Car
Parking will be available on the school grounds, marked out by flags and parking helpers will be on site to assist. Please note when you enter the school the speed limit is strictly walking speed only (10km per hour). There will also be limited parking outside the school on Rilens Road. Please follow the signs for footpaths around to the fair and be mindful of our neighbours.

By Shuttle Bus
We will be running a shuttle bus from the bus stop on Mostyn Street (near the Castlemaine RSL/Victory Park), Castlemaine Train Station and then on to Castlemaine Steiner School and back for the duration of the event. These shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes 9.30 to 11.30am and then again every 15 minutes 1.30 to 3.30pm. See bus stop map here
